Category photo (no photo of its own for this entry)
Leucocoryne alba corresponds to the white-flowered form of the Leucocoryne ixioides complex, a Chilean bulbous plant in the Alliaceae family known as "glory of the sun." It produces a slender stem bearing an umbel of fragrant, star-shaped flowers, here pure white, in spring. The fine, grass-like leaves develop in winter and die back before flowering. This plant thrives in well-drained soil, full sun, and a dry summer rest, typical of Mediterranean and Chilean bulbs.
