Albuca juncifolia

Native to the Western Cape of South Africa, where it grows on sandy, often calcareous flats between Ceres and Mossel Bay, Albuca juncifolia is a bulbous perennial in the Asparagaceae family (subfamily Scilloideae). An underground bulb produces several slender, stiff, rush-like leaves, followed by a wiry stem bearing a loose raceme of nodding, pale yellow flowers with a green central stripe. Flowering occurs in spring. It grows well in full sun, in sandy, well-drained soil, with a dry rest period after flowering.
