Allium Hoog

Allium 'Hoog' most likely refers to a large-flowered garden hybrid within the genus Allium, close to the well-known cultivar 'Mount Everest' (a cross between A. stipitatum and A. hollandicum), distributed by major Dutch bulb growers. Like other tall ornamental alliums, it forms a single tunicated bulb that sends up, in late spring, a sturdy 80 cm to 1.2 m stem topped with a dense spherical umbel 10-15 cm across, made up of hundreds of small white to violet star-shaped flowers. The deciduous foliage often withers before flowering. Full sun and sharp drainage are essential.
