Allium 'Lucy Ball' (Amaryllidaceae) is a hybrid cultivar of Dutch garden origin, raised from Allium hollandicum crossed with A. macleanii. This bulbous ornamental onion reaches 90–120 cm; the strap-shaped, pale green leaves often wither before the flowers open. In May and June it produces a dense spherical umbel 10–15 cm across, made of many small, lightly scented rosy-purple star-shaped florets; the dried seedheads remain decorative. Grow in full sun in fertile, free-draining soil, sheltered from winter wet. Hardy to about -20 °C.
