Anemone palmata

Anemone palmata is a perennial with a finger-like rhizome, native to the western Mediterranean basin (Iberian Peninsula, southern France, Sardinia, Sicily), growing in rocky, stony habitats, often in mountains. The fleshy, all-basal leaves are rounded, with three to five shallow, toothed lobes. In spring it produces solitary or paired, daisy-like flowers 2.5-3.5 cm across, bright yellow, with ten to fifteen oblong petals. Reaching no more than 30 cm tall, this anemone grows in full sun on well-drained soil, tolerating dry summers, and becomes dormant after spring flowering.
