The epithet 'confetta' could not be confidently matched to a precise species of Aristea; it possibly echoes Aristea confusa, a name now treated as a synonym within the Aristea bakeri / A. rufobracteata complex in South Africa. Lacking certainty, the description below applies to the genus in general: Aristea are evergreen, rhizomatous Iridaceae from Africa and Madagascar, with narrow sword-shaped leaves, producing clusters of short-lived but numerous blue star-shaped flowers in late spring and summer.
