Lilium auratum

Lilium auratum, the golden-rayed lily of Japan, is a bulbous species native to the mountains of Japan, prized for its huge flowers. A sturdy stem bears, in late summer, several large, bowl-shaped white flowers, each tepal striped with a central gold band and spotted with crimson, giving off a powerful fragrance. It grows in rich, cool, well-drained soil, ideally acidic to neutral, in part shade or gentle sun, with the bulb planted fairly deep.
