Iris aurea

Iris aurea is an older name, now treated as a synonym of Iris crocea, for this rhizomatous iris of the spuria group native to Kashmir and the western Himalaya. It produces large, bright golden-yellow flowers in late spring, on sturdy stems often exceeding a metre in height, above narrow, fan-shaped foliage. Vigorous, it is grown in full sun, in deep, fertile soil kept moist during growth, and tolerates cold winters well.
