Lachenalia aurea

Lachenalia aurea is a South African bulbous plant in the Asparagaceae family (formerly Hyacinthaceae), closely related to Lachenalia flava, with which its name is sometimes used interchangeably. It forms a rosette of fleshy, often mottled leaves topped by a dense spike of small golden-yellow tubular flowers. Flowering occurs in winter, the active growth period for this bulb native to winter-rainfall regions. Best grown in pots or a sheltered bed, in well-drained soil and full sun, with a dry summer rest.
