Alstroemeria aurea

Alstroemeria aurea (syn. A. aurantiaca, Alstroemeriaceae) is native to Chile and Argentina, where it grows at forest edges. A clump-forming rhizomatous perennial, 40 cm to 1 m tall, it bears umbels of bright orange flowers streaked with purple and yellow throughout summer (June–August). The resupinate leaves typical of the genus twist so their underside faces upward. Grow in full sun to part shade, in cool, rich, well-drained soil; it can spread vigorously.
