Babiana

Babiana attenuata (Iridaceae) is a cormous geophyte endemic to the Northern Cape province of South Africa, where it grows within the Succulent Karoo vegetation. A poorly documented and rarely cultivated species, it produces, like other Babiana, pleated, hairy leaves and a flower spike with blooms typical of the genus in the southern spring. Grow in full sun, in sandy, well-drained soil, keeping dry during summer dormancy; best suited to collectors of rare South African bulbs.
