Babiana curviscapa=ambigua ?

The label pairs two names, Babiana curviscapa and B. ambigua, whose precise identity and possible synonymy remain uncertain; current taxonomy in fact treats them as two distinct but closely related species. Babiana is a South African genus of Iridaceae with deeply buried, fibre-protected corms and the genus's typical pleated, hairy leaves. B. curviscapa, from Namaqualand, and B. ambigua, from the Western and Northern Cape, both bear fragrant, blue-to-mauve flowers in spring, the lower tepals marked with cream-white blotches edged in dark violet. Grow in sandy to well-drained soil, in a sunny position, with dry summer dormancy.
