Babiana sp? « Table mountain »

This entry corresponds to an unconfirmed Babiana associated with the Table Mountain area of the Cape, South Africa. Babiana are cormous Iridaceae with pleated, hairy leaves recalling fur (hence the Afrikaans name babiaan, 'baboon'), well represented in Cape fynbos. Their flowers, fragrant in many species, range from blue to red, yellow and white. It likely requires well-drained soil and a sunny position, with a dry summer rest.
