Biarum tenuifolium abbreviatum




Smaller than typical B. tenuifolium with a long,hooded spathe (10cm long by 5cm wide). The spadix is about 10cm long, emerging more or less horizontally but often deflexing upwards. Unlike many Biarum this species has only a faint but pleasant scent.
The genus
An autumn flowering méditerranean genus of limited height (max 15cm) which is presented for its fascinating inflorescens produced at ground level. The 'eg' like fruits are assembled in a cluster which lies on the ground or is sometimes buried in the ground.
