Chasmanthe bicolor (Iridaceae) is a cormous plant from South Africa, closely related to C. aethiopica, with a fan-like arrangement of winter leaves. In winter it produces long, arching stems bearing spikes of tubular, horn-shaped, bicoloured orange and yellow flowers. Grow in full sun or part shade, in well-drained soil, watered in winter and kept dry in summer during dormancy; hardy to around -5 to -8 °C with winter protection.
