Anemone blanda 'Blue Shades' (Ranunculaceae) is a cultivar of the Balkan anemone, native to southeastern Europe and Turkey. This tuberous perennial forms finely divided foliage above which numerous star-shaped flowers open in early spring, ranging in shade from pale to deep blue. It naturalises readily, forming flowering carpets beneath deciduous trees. Grow in part shade, in cool, well-drained, humus-rich soil; plant the tubers in autumn, ideally after soaking.
