Brimeura (Asparagaceae, subfamily Scilloideae) contains only three species, all from the western Mediterranean: the Pyrenees and north-eastern Spain, the Balearic Islands, Corsica and Sardinia. Named after the horticulturist Marie de Brimeu, it was separated from Hyacinthus, which it still resembles. They are small bulbous geophytes with linear basal leaves and a slender scape carrying a loose raceme of nodding, bell-shaped flowers about a centimetre long. Flowering is in spring. Grow in sun or partial shade in humus-rich, well-drained soil, planting the bulbs in autumn.
