Brunsvigia montanus

The name "Brunsvigia montanus/montana" could not be reliably matched to a validly described species in the botanical literature; the following description is therefore given at genus level. Brunsvigia is a South African genus of Amaryllidaceae with around twenty species, growing in semi-arid regions, often on rocky or sandy soils. The large bulbs typically produce foliage after flowering (hysteranthous), and bear wide, spherical, candelabra-like umbels on a sturdy scape, in shades of red, pink or white, in late summer or autumn. Grow in very well-drained soil, in full sun, with a dry summer dormancy.
