Calochortus minumus

Calochortus minimus (sometimes spelled "minumus") is a small bulbous plant endemic to the Sierra Nevada of California, growing along mountain lakesides and in moist soils. It is one of the smallest species in the genus: its unbranched stem reaches no more than 10 cm, topped by a persistent basal leaf 10-20 cm long. In summer it bears up to about ten erect, bell-shaped white flowers with three petals and three pointed sepals. It grows in sun, in soil that stays moist during the growing season, becoming dormant under snow in winter, typical of high-mountain geophytes.
