Calydorea tranguense

The epithet "tranguense" could not be reliably matched to a described species of Calydorea. The description below therefore applies to the genus in general: Calydoreas are cormous Iridaceae native to temperate South America, with a few species extending into Mexico and Florida. The leaves are narrow and grass-like, and spring or summer flowering produces short-lived, star-shaped flowers, often open for only half a day, in shades of blue, violet or yellow. They require well-drained soil, a sunny position and a dry rest after flowering, mimicking the seasonally dry grasslands where they grow in the wild.
