Calydorea xiphioides

Calydorea xiphioides is a cormous plant endemic to Chile, in the Iridaceae family, locally known as violeta or lahue. It produces fine, pleated leaves and ephemeral flowers, lasting only a single day, violet-blue with a yellow base and six star-like tepals. Flowering occurs in the southern spring (October-November). Classified as vulnerable in its native range, it grows in well-drained soil, in full sun, with a dry summer rest.
