Cammasia leichtlinii ‘Alba’

Camassia leichtlinii, native to damp meadows of western North America (from British Columbia to California), is a bulbous plant with linear, strap-like leaves in a basal tuft. The 'Alba' cultivar is distinguished by its pure white flowers: in late spring, a sturdy 60-90 cm stem bears a long, dense raceme of six-tepalled star-shaped flowers with contrasting mauve anthers. It thrives in sun to part shade, in cool to moist soil during the growing season, and tolerates dry summer dormancy well.
