Libertia chilensis (sometimes treated as a synonym of Libertia formosa) is a perennial in the iris family (Iridaceae), native to the Juan Fernández Islands and south-central Chile as well as southern Argentina. It forms a dense clump of rigid, fan-arranged, bluish-green leaves from short rhizomes. In early summer, upright stems carry clusters of widely open white flowers with pale yellow anthers. Robust and free-flowering, it is grown in full sun or part shade on well-drained yet moisture-retentive soil, and tolerates moderate frost (down to about -10°C).
