Clivia cyrtanthiflora

Clivia x cyrtanthiflora was the first Clivia hybrid raised in Europe in the 19th century, a cross between C. nobilis and C. miniata. An evergreen perennial with dark green, strap-shaped, leathery leaves, it produces in late winter - and sometimes several times a year in frost-free climates - umbels of lightly scented orange tubular flowers with buttery yellow throats, held above the foliage. Intermediate between its parents, it combines the upright habit of C. miniata with the tubular elegance of C. nobilis. Grow in part shade, in rich, well-drained soil, sheltered from full sun and frost.
