Coelogyne erythrostylum

Native to Vietnam and Laos, Coelogyne erythrostylum is a pseudobulbous epiphytic orchid growing in humid montane forest. Its leaves are long and plicate. In spring it produces fragrant white flowers, 6 to 8 cm across, with a yellow-orange lip marked by red-orange crests and veining, the column itself tinged red — giving rise to its epithet "erythrostylum." It requires warm to intermediate growing conditions, high humidity, good air movement, bright filtered light, and a drier rest after growth, in a pot or on a mount with a well-aerated epiphytic mix.
