Colchicum Lilac Wonder” — colchique

This large Colchicum hybrid will amuse your children when this dry bulb suddenly comes alive on the windowsill and produces this splendid lilac coloured 'crocus' type flower . It may just spark off juvenile botanical interest. When flowering is over plant it outside where it will produce leaves the following spring . And again in September new flowers will remind you that it is time for school again

The genus

Colchcums allways occur in well drained habitats. Most species flower in the Autumn well before the leaves appear in the spring. THEY WILL EVEN FLOWER BEFORE BEING PLANTED. Most species are hardy and some species are sufficiently robust to naturalise in Sub alpine meadows or in wld gardens.
