Colchicum szovitsii

Native to the Caucasus (south-eastern Transcaucasia), northern Iran and Turkey, Colchicum szovitsii grows in alpine and subalpine meadows, often near melting snow patches. Its corm, about 3 cm long, produces broadly linear to lance-shaped leaves up to 20 cm long in spring, appearing at the same time as the flowers. One to four pale pink to white flowers, about 5 cm across, are borne on a plant rarely exceeding 20 cm. Unlike the autumn-flowering colchicums, this spring-blooming species appreciates moist, well-drained soil in late winter and a dry summer dormancy after seed set.
