Conophytum chauniniae

Conophytum chauviniae (sometimes misspelled chauniniae) is a small succulent native to the Northern and Western Cape of South Africa, growing on gneiss slopes or quartzite ridges around Arondegas and Nuwerus. It forms clumps of heart-shaped bodies formed by two fused, fleshy leaves, greyish-green to bluish-green, with a rough, papillate surface, sometimes spotted with green and marked with a dark red keel. In autumn it produces pink to magenta flowers with a long tube. It is grown in full sun, in a very free-draining mineral substrate, with a strict summer rest and no watering.
