Oxalis crassipes, a close relative of Oxalis articulata with which it is sometimes confused, is a South American bulbous perennial forming a compact clump of light green trifoliate leaves. Long flowering periods from spring to autumn produce pink flowers carried in umbels above the foliage. Undemanding, it suits borders and low beds. It grows in sun to part shade, on well-drained soil, and tolerates summer drought well once established.
