Crinum amabile

Crinum amabile (or C. × amabile), native to India, is a hybrid of C. asiaticum and C. zeylanicum, often called the "giant spider lily". Its broad, fleshy, bright green leaves can reach 2 m, forming an imposing clump. In spring and summer, large, richly fragrant white flowers flushed pink or burgundy open in the evening in umbels atop sturdy stalks. A frost-tender tropical plant, it prefers rich, moist soil and a sunny position, thriving near water features.
