Crinum Emma Jones ‘ x

Crinum 'Emma Jones' is a hybrid cultivar raised around 1950 from a cross between Crinum 'Cecil Houdyshel' and Crinum 'Peachblow', named after the breeder's wife. Like other Crinum, large bulbous plants in the Amaryllidaceae family, it forms a clump of long, glossy, strap-shaped leaves arising from a large tunicated bulb. From summer into autumn, a tall stalk bears up to a dozen large, fragrant, purplish-pink trumpet flowers. It grows best in full sun, in rich, well-drained soil, and is sensitive to hard frost.
