Crinum zeylanicum

Native to tropical Africa and Asia, Crinum zeylanicum is a bulbous perennial in the Amaryllidaceae family, with a large ovoid bulb that can exceed 10 cm in diameter. Long, strap-shaped, reflexed leaves form a dense clump. In summer, an umbel of large, bell-shaped flowers opens, white with a broad, dark red median stripe on each tepal, carried on a curved tube. It grows best in full sun, in rich, well-drained soil, and needs winter protection or frost-free conditions in temperate climates.
