Crocosmia × crocosmiiflora 'Lucifer' (Iridaceae), montbretia 'Lucifer', is a vigorous cultivar of this garden hybrid between C. aurea and C. pottsii. In summer it produces tall, arching stems up to 1.2 m, bearing spikes of vivid scarlet-red, star-shaped flowers above sword-shaped foliage. Grow in full sun or part shade, in rich, moist soil; hardy to around -15 °C with good winter mulch.
