Crocosmia Zeal Giant

Crocosmia 'Zeal Giant' is a horticultural cultivar of the Crocosmia × crocosmiiflora group, raised by Terry Jones in Devon and introduced in 1990. A cormous perennial, it forms a clump of large, pleated, mid-green, sword-shaped leaves, arising from corms reaching the size of an apple; the foliage and arching stems rise up to 1.80 m when in flower. From midsummer to late summer, large, upward-facing, salmon-orange tubular flowers open, streaked darker on the lower petals. Awarded the Award of Garden Merit, it likes fertile, well-drained soil, full sun, and winter mulching in cold climates.
