Crocosmia 'Zeal Giant' is a garden cultivar of the Crocosmia × crocosmiiflora group, raised by Terry Jones in Devon and introduced in 1990. A cormous perennial, it forms a clump of large, pleated, mid-green, sword-shaped leaves from corms that can reach the size of an apple; foliage and arching stems reach up to 1.8 m tall in flower. From midsummer to late summer, large tubular salmon-orange flowers, striped darker on lower petals, open facing upward. Holder of the RHS Award of Garden Merit, it thrives in fertile, well-drained soil and full sun, with winter mulch in cold climates.
