Cypella hauthallii

The correct name for this plant is most likely Cypella hauthalii (rather than 'hauthallii'), a species native to South American grasslands, particularly southern Paraguay and northeastern Argentina (Corrientes and Misiones provinces). It is a perennial cormous herb in the family Iridaceae, with short stems. In spring it produces large, open flowers, white to pale lilac-blue, with elongated whitish-blue adaxial crests; as in other Cypella, each flower lasts only a single day. It thrives in well-drained soil, full sun, and dies back in winter.
