The genus
A genus which mainly originates from areas with fairly regular rainfall in the eastern part of South Africa. They are very often found at higher elevations in moist places near streams.Cyrtanthus are mostly summer-growers or evergreen (but a few have a relatively short summer resting period). The flexibility of its growing cycle gives Cyrtanthus an interesting horticultural potential, which is still to be explored.
