Echeandia flavescens var. flavescens,

Native to the south-western United States (Arizona, south-west Texas) and Mexico, with disjunct populations south to Colombia and Venezuela, Echeandia flavescens is a tuberous geophyte of the Asphodelaceae, growing between roughly 1400 and 2700 m in oak, pine and juniper woodland. A highly variable polyploid complex, it forms tufts of narrow leaves 1-9 mm wide and produces, from May to October, orange-yellow flowers striped green at the centre, which open in the morning and close by afternoon. It requires free-draining soil, a sunny position, and a dry winter dormancy.
