Cyrtanthus falcatus, the falcate fire lily, is a bulbous species native to the forests of KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, where it grows epiphytically or on shaded rocks. Its glossy, curved, sickle-shaped leaves precede an erect burgundy stem bearing an umbel of 8 to 10 pendulous, narrowly flared tubular flowers combining red, green and cream, in spring and summer. Grow in pots in partial shade, in a rich, well-drained substrate; protect from frost and provide humid air.
