Ferraria

Ferraria is a genus in the family Iridaceae native to southern and tropical Africa, with around thirty species of cormous plants with sword-shaped foliage. Their star-shaped flowers, often with frilled or finely striped petals, come in a range of subdued, dark colours: brown, olive-green or purple. Several species remain poorly known and little documented outside their native range. Grow in well-drained sandy soil, in full sun; dry summer rest, winter protection from frost.
