‘Fontenay

Crocus laevigatus var. fontenayi (Iridaceae) is a notable variety of Crocus laevigatus, a species endemic to Greece and Crete, selected for its large, strongly fragrant flowers, white to pale lilac, finely striped with silvery purple outside and marked with a bright yellow throat. Like the type species, it flowers from late autumn to late winter above narrow, silvery leaves. Grow in full sun, in well-drained soil; hardy, it suits rock gardens and sheltered borders.
