Fritilaria cirrhoza

Fritillaria cirrhosa (yellow Himalayan fritillary) is a bulbous perennial native to alpine areas of the Himalayas and western China (Gansu, Qinghai, Sichuan, Tibet, Yunnan), growing at 2700-4800 m in meadows, screes and alpine scrub. The scaly bulb produces a slender stem with narrow leaves, the upper ones often ending in tendrils that let the plant cling to surrounding vegetation. From late spring into summer it bears one to a few solitary, pendent, bell-shaped flowers, greenish-yellow to purplish-brown with a checkered pattern. It requires well-drained yet moisture-retentive soil, in sun to part shade, with winter dormancy.
