Galanthus reginae-olgae

Native to Sicily and the north-western Balkans (Greece, former Yugoslavia), Galanthus reginae-olgae is the best-known autumn-flowering snowdrop, blooming from September into October, before the leaves appear. It resembles G. nivalis but is easily told apart by this early flowering: nodding, musk-scented white flowers with long outer tepals (15-35 mm) and inner tepals marked with a green heart. The dark green leaves, with a central silver stripe, develop after flowering. It thrives in well-drained soil, in a warm position in sun or partial shade.
