Galanthus woronowii

Native to north-eastern Turkey and the Caucasus (Georgia, southern Russia), where it grows on rocky riverbanks, woodland margins and scrub up to 1400 m altitude, Galanthus woronowii is a bulbous snowdrop with broad, glossy, bright green leaves. Between January and April it produces nodding white flowers with three outer petals and inner segments marked with green. It is planted in autumn in humus-rich, moist but well-drained soil, in light dappled shade, and should never dry out completely during its summer dormancy.
