Gelasina caerulea

The correct name for this plant is Gelasine coerulea, a bulbous Iridaceae native to Paraguay, southeastern Brazil, and the Argentine province of Misiones. Like other Gelasine, related to Cypella and Herbertia within the Tigridieae, it grows from a tunicated bulb and produces narrow, pleated foliage. Its blue, star-shaped, six-tepalled flowers appear in summer and, as with most members of this tribe, each lasts only a day before being replaced by new blooms. Adapted to a subtropical climate, it requires well-drained soil, a sunny position, and a drier winter rest.
