The fourth unidentified Gladiolus (Iridaceae) accession in this batch, this plant belongs to a genus of around 260 species, concentrated in southern Africa and split between winter-growing and summer-growing species. The rounded corm, covered in brown fibrous tunics, produces narrow sword-shaped leaves and an upright stem bearing a one-sided spike of funnel-shaped, six-tepalled flowers. The flowering period, from spring to summer depending on the species, and the flower colour remain to be confirmed for this plant, labelled 'sp 4'. Grow in well-drained soil, full sun, with dry dormancy suited to the plant's cycle.
