The uncertain name on this entry (accompanied by the collection code GRD1102) most likely corresponds to Gladiolus involutus, a species found only in certain areas of the Eastern and Western Cape, South Africa, spanning both winter- and summer-rainfall zones. This 30-50 cm geophyte grows in clay renosterveld and grassland soil. It produces, from winter to spring, white flowers marked with yellow-green on the lower tepals, the upper tepals coiling and pressed against the posterior tepals in a spiral arrangement. It requires well-drained soil and a sunny position.
