Gladiolus ?Sp? GRD 1677 corresponds to a wild South African species not identified with certainty, collected under this field number. Like most Cape Gladiolus, it grows in fynbos or winter-rainfall grassland, from a tunicated corm wrapped in protective fibres. The plant develops narrow, ribbed sword-shaped leaves and a flower stem bearing a spike of funnel-shaped flowers, with colours and flowering time varying according to the population. Taxonomic confirmation remains to be established; grow in full sun, free-draining soil, dry summer dormancy.
