Gladiolus ?sp? ‘vanRhijnpass’

This wild Gladiolus, of uncertain species, comes from the area of Van Rhyns Pass, in the Bokkeveld Mountains near Nieuwoudtville (Northern Cape), a region famed for its spectacular spring wildflower displays after winter rains. Like other gladioli from this area, it grows from a tunicated corm, with narrow, sword-shaped leaves and a spike of funnel-shaped flowers appearing in the southern spring. Grow in full sun with well-drained soil and a dry summer rest.
