Haemanthus paucifolium

The name likely corresponds to Haemanthus pauculifolius, an evergreen bulbous species of the Amaryllidaceae, only described in 1993 and endemic to a small area of Mpumalanga and Eswatini in South Africa, where it grows in partial shade beneath shrubs, in the summer-rainfall Drakensberg region. The partly photosynthetic bulb bears just one or two thick, leathery, dark green leaves with a ciliate margin. In autumn it produces a paintbrush-like inflorescence of white flowers with yellow anthers, followed by decorative white fruit. Closely related to H. albiflos, it is grown in part shade on well-drained soil, without a pronounced dormancy.
