Haworthia nigra

Haworthia nigra (now classified as Haworthiopsis nigra) is a small succulent native to the Eastern Cape, South Africa. It forms short, caulescent rosettes up to 6 cm in diameter, made up of thick, triangular leaves arranged in three ranks, covered with raised tubercles, coloured very dark green to almost black. Growth is extremely slow. In summer it produces a slender spike of small, whitish, tubular flowers. It is grown in bright but not scorching light, in a well-drained mineral substrate, with reduced watering in winter, its period of rest.
