Haworthia retusa

Haworthia retusa is a succulent endemic to a small area around Riversdale in the Western Cape, South Africa. It forms a star-shaped rosette of fleshy, pale green, deltoid, recurved leaves whose translucent, veined, triangular tips form a characteristic "window." In habitat it often grows buried in the ground, with only these windows exposed. The rosette, usually solitary, can reach 15 cm in diameter. From spring to summer it bears white flowers veined with greenish brown on a slender spike. It is grown in bright light, in a well-drained mineral substrate, with a winter rest period.
